Ex-professional boxer shot dead in Bielefeld

Besar Nimani is dead. The former professional boxer was shot dead on the street in Bielefeld on Sunday night.

Shots were fired in the city center of Bielefeld on Saturday evening - a 38-year-old man was killed - the victim is said to be the former boxer Besar Nimani. According to German media, the gunfire was opened as a group of up to six men left a coffee house. In Hamburg, another man died on Saturday after a knife attack. 

Witnesses reported that they had heard six to eight shots, according to the newspaper "Bild". Emergency services rushed to the scene after the alarm was raised, but the shooting victim - a Kosovan citizen - is said to have succumbed to his serious injuries on the spot. The perpetrator or perpetrators were able to flee.

Victim is said to have been shot eleven years ago
The emergency services set up screens to remove the body in Obernstraße. Nimani is said to have been shot once before in 2013, according to Bild. 

A homicide squad has taken over the investigation. The police did not initially provide any further details or background information, particularly regarding a possible motive. The manhunt for the perpetrator or perpetrators is ongoing.

Bloody clashes in Hamburg too
There was also a violent confrontation resulting in death in Hamburg on Saturday: a man died at Saalehafen after being attacked with a knife. There was also a bloody fight in the Wandsbek district. One victim suffered life-threatening injuries from a stab wound.
