200 arrests before Mönchengladbach-Cologne derby
Police arrested more than 200 people on Friday evening during a clash between rival fan groups on the eve of the derby between Borussia Mönchengladbach and 1. FC Köln in the German Bundesliga.
According to the police, two officers and one female officer were injured during the operation at Borussia-Park. 131 Cologne and 74 Mönchengladbach "problem fans" were reportedly taken into custody.
Hundreds of police officers
In total, hundreds of police officers were deployed. The fans will initially be held at least until after the end of the Bundesliga match on Saturday and have been distributed to various authorities in North Rhine-Westphalia.
