Andexer also in the sprint at the “Flower Ceremony”

Biathlete Anna Andexer saves the red-white-red honor in the sprint of the IBU Cup in Obertilliach. The athlete from Salzburg produced a flawless race and finished in sixth place as the best ÖSV athlete. Victory once again goes to a German.

Avoiding the penalty loop - that was the key to another top result for Anna Andexer at the IBU Cup final in Obertilliach.

"It was brilliant again - 0-0 at the shooting range," grinned the 21-year-old at the finish, who added self-critically: "But I'm not shooting that fast yet, so I still need to improve."

Nevertheless, it was enough for the next top result, the Salzburg native finished in sixth place in front of a Saalfelden delegation and was once again part of the "Flower Ceremony" of the top 6. "Really great," said Andexer.

The race did not go according to plan for the other Austrians. Kristina Oberthaler, who came third the previous week, also made no mistakes, but had her problems in the snowy trail. In the end, the 25-year-old finished 21st, with the other ÖSV ladies missing out on the points.

As in the short single on Thursday, victory went to a German athlete. Stefanie Scherer remained penalty-free and came out on top ahead of Norway's Gro Randby and France's Oceane Michelon.
