McDonald’s enters Ligue 1 in a big way!
A big bang in the top flight of French soccer: McDonald's is apparently about to enter Ligue 1!
According to reports, the US fast food giant wants to pay a total of around 60 million euros for the naming rights to the league over the next three years. At least that's what the usually well-informed radio station "RMC Sport" claims to have found out ...
In any case, a McDonald's offer of this amount would be a win for Ligue 1, as Uber Eats, the previous title sponsor, has so far put around 15 million euros per season on the table.
"McDonald's Ligue 1"?
Even if the linguistic usage of "normal" fans would hardly change as a result of the deal and the league would continue to be referred to as Ligue 1 or France's first division - the league would then officially be called "McDonald's Ligue 1" ...
