"Defense means are working"
Russian air force reduces attacks according to Kiev
According to Ukrainian reports, Russian air force missions over the east of the country have decreased. Several Russian fighter jets were previously reported to have been shot down. "The defensive means provided by Western partners are having an effect," said air force spokesman Yuri Ihnat on Sunday.
Nevertheless, at least 16 people were injured in a Russian attack on Kurakhove on Sunday afternoon. Two of them are said to be in a critical condition. A guided aircraft bomb damaged several residential buildings in the town in the Donetsk region.
According to Ukrainian reports, several Russian Su-34 or Su-35 fighter jets have been shot down in recent days. However, the Russian military has never confirmed the loss of the aircraft. A rare A-50 reconnaissance aircraft is said to have been shot down back in January. These aircraft are used to monitor airspace and carry out attacks.
Bodies of children recovered from the rubble
Despite the deployment of air defense systems on the front line, the Ukrainian government is complaining about a lack of additional systems to protect large cities. Russian terror must be stopped, said President Volodymyr Zelenskyi. "And when people die while our partners get lost in political games or discussions that limit our defense, it is incomprehensible and unimaginable." The world has sufficient air defense systems against drones and missiles (see video on arms deliveries above).
Most recently, at least twelve people were killed in a Russian airstrike in the southern Ukrainian port city of Odessa on Saturday night. The bodies of two children, a ten-year-old boy and his eight-year-old sister, were recovered from the rubble on Sunday, according to the governor of the region.
