Kitchen fire: Pensioner suffers burns

Shocking experience for a pensioner (79) in Hall in Tirol. A fire broke out in the kitchen of her apartment shortly after midday on Saturday. The woman tried to extinguish the fire and suffered severe burns. 

According to the police, a pan of hot fat caught fire in the kitchen of the pensioner in an apartment building at around 12.45 pm on Saturday. When the 79-year-old noticed the fire, she reacted immediately and tried to smother the fire with cloths and extinguish it with water. During her efforts, the woman suffered severe burns to both hands. 

Resident was taken to hospital
Only the Hall fire department, who had been alerted, managed to contain the fire. Rescue services were also dispatched to take the owner of the apartment to the hospital in Hall. According to the police, it is not yet possible to estimate the amount of damage caused.
