ÖSV relay teams come away empty-handed from the World Championship final
Austria's biathlon talents return home from the Youth and Junior World Championships in Otepää (Estonia) with a bronze medal. The ÖSV teams came away empty-handed in the final relay competitions. In the women's and men's events, the precious metal was clearly too high in the end.
Disappointed faces among Austria's biathlon team on the final day of the Junior World Championships in Otepää, Estonia.
In the relay events, both the men's and women's teams missed out on a medal. The latter consisted of four athletes from HSV Saalfelden - Oliver Lienbacher, David Neumayr, Fabian Müllauer and Lukas Haslinger.
With four penalty loops and eleven reloads, the quartet finished more than three minutes behind winner Norway (3+12) in seventh place. Silver went to the Ukrainian team (0+11/+56.5 seconds), bronze went to the French team (1+10/+1:06.0 minutes).
Andexer and Co. in fifth place
The women's race, in which Leonie Pitzer, Wilma Anhaus, Lara Wagner and Anna Andexer competed, did not go according to plan either. Halfway through the race, the top three were already out of reach for the Austro quartet, who were more than three minutes behind.
In the end, final skier Andexer finished with one penalty loop and 17 reloads, 4:17.4 minutes behind the triumphant German relay team (0+6) led by Julia Tannheimer.
The Norwegian juniors took silver with eleven spare rounds (+27.7 seconds), while the French team (0+4/+55.4) completed the podium.
