Unemployment up: Tyrol has the lowest rate
There has been a slight increase in the number of unemployed people in Tyrol. According to the Arbeitsmarktservice Tirol (AMS), 15,738 people were out of work. The rate was 4.1 percent in February, making it the lowest of all the federal states.
Compared to the previous year, the number of unemployed represents an increase of 914 people. Just under a third of the 15,738 people already have a job offer. "The situation on the Tyrolean labor market remains relatively stable despite rising unemployment. We have record employment and the lowest unemployment rate in Austria," explains Sabine Platzer-Werlberger, Managing Director of AMS Tirol.
The number of jobs has also risen. 5000 more people are considered to be employed than in the previous year. This brings the figure to 371,000. The unemployment rate in Tirol is 4.1 percent.
Rise in the number of long-term unemployed
The number of unemployed people in the retail and catering sectors has risen at an above-average rate. There was also a noticeable increase in transport and storage as well as goods manufacturing. The number of long-term unemployed is also on the rise. There are currently 1684 people in Tyrol. Compared to the previous year, this represents an increase of 1.9 percent.
