Fleeing from the police
Drunk driver (18) raced through Graz at 100 km/h
On Thursday night, an 18-year-old driving license novice from the Graz area tried to escape a driver and vehicle check. He sped through the city of Graz at around 100 km/h and crashed into a lamp post. His 15-year-old passenger was injured.
At around 1.45 am, the police attempted to stop a vehicle in Plüddemanngasse in Graz for a routine driver and vehicle check. The 18-year-old driver stopped briefly, but then immediately stepped on the gas pedal again and tried to evade the check.
15-year-old passenger injured
The police officers took up the chase through the Graz city area and the driver accelerated up to 100 km/h. He then lost control of the vehicle in a bend. He then lost control of the car on a bend and crashed head-on into a lamp post. The driver and the 15-year-old female passenger were able to free themselves from the car.
The alcohol test was positive and the driver's probationary license was revoked. He will be charged with several offenses. His underage passenger was taken to the children's hospital LKH Graz with minor injuries.
