Skier crashes into a marker at full speed

According to the police, a German skier (34) was probably skiing far too fast in the Itter ski area in Tyrol on Wednesday morning. The man left the piste in a bend and crashed with full force into a piste edge marker. The 34-year-old did not even notice his serious injuries at first. 

The accident occurred shortly after 11 a.m. in the "SkiWelt" on a red-marked slope. The skier probably overshot the edge of the piste in a right-hand bend due to his speed. As a result, he crashed into the piste edge marking and came to rest a few meters below.

Injuries only discovered in hospital
The victim appeared almost unharmed after the impact. He was transported away on a skidoo and taken to Kufstein Hospital for a check-up. There, the doctors diagnosed serious internal injuries with bleeding.
