Child seriously injured after collision on ski slope

Two young skiers collided with each other in the Gurgl ski area in the Tyrolean Ötztal on Tuesday. One girl (10) was so seriously injured that she had to be flown to hospital by an emergency helicopter.

The ten-year-old was skiing as part of a German group in Obergurgl at around 3 pm on Tuesday. She then collided with an eight-year-old boy from the same ski group on a blue slope. 

While the boy was uninjured in the collision, the girl was seriously injured. The piste rescue team provided first aid on site. She then had to be flown to hospital in Zams by the "C1" emergency helicopter.
