Injured in fire at water park in Gothenburg
A major fire broke out on Monday at a water park in Gothenburg, Sweden, which has not yet opened. Twelve people were slightly injured and sought medical treatment themselves.
According to the team at the Liseberg theme park, to which the water park belongs, the entire building was on fire. The fire started in a water slide and had not yet been extinguished by the afternoon.
Footage from Swedish television station SVT showed dark, thick smoke spreading across the city. The incident commander urged people in the area to stay indoors, close doors and windows and turn off ventilation systems. Several buildings, including a hotel, were completely evacuated, according to the police.
Cause still unclear
Twelve people were slightly injured in the fire. The cause of the fire at the "Oceana" water park was initially unknown. According to the Gothenburg amusement park, no guests were in the pool when the fire broke out. The water park was due to open in the summer and become part of Liseberg. According to a spokeswoman, the pools were recently filled with water and the final inspection was planned for April.
