Suspects caught
Police officers attacked during “drunk driving operations”
Several Viennese police officers had to intervene in two "promille operations" in Favoriten and Ottakring and were attacked in the process.
At Vienna Central Station, a heavily intoxicated couple got into a heated argument with a passer-by. At first, the Hungarian (30) and his Austrian girlfriend (35) loudly insulted the 43-year-old. But suddenly the drunk couple went berserk and beat the man up.
Caught thanks to witness statements
After he had fallen to the ground, the two are said to have kicked him. "Thanks to witness statements, police officers were able to arrest the suspects nearby," said police spokesman Markus Dittrich.
No memory
While the head-injured victim was taken to hospital, the uniformed officers tried to question the woman. But with 2.6 per mille alcohol in her blood, she could only slur: "I can't remember anything!"
Similar case on the Vienna Gürtel
Another "b'soffene G'schicht" ended with a report on the Lerchenfelder Gürtel. Residents there raised the alarm with the police because two heavily intoxicated women were sitting on the ground and harassing pedestrians. When uniformed officers arrived, one of the drunk girls (17) shouted at them and attacked them with kicks - charges filed at large!
