Readers show heart for widow and six orphans

After the death drama in a council house in Vienna-Floridsdorf, there is at least one financial consolation for the mother and her six half-orphans. Our "Krone" readers donated a total of 21,366 euros for the family.

Two weeks ago, a sick Viennese man (48) plunged his widow and six children into a mental abyss by jumping to his death from the Schlingerhof in Floridsdorf. Since then, Susanne B., mother of the half-orphans, has been caring for her children with great emotion. "Sometimes they cry a lot, sometimes I can soon comfort them again," says the 38-year-old Viennese.

More than 21,300 euros donated
In the meantime, thanks to the generous donations of many Krone readers, she has regained some courage. Because compassionate people have paid more than 21,300 euros into the donation account set up by former district councillor Hans Jörg Schimanek.

Susanne B. looks composed as she transfers the money. "Even if I felt like it myself, I can't cry along with the children. On the outside I manage to be strong, but on the inside it's a different story," she says. "Please send a sincere thank you to all the donors. We have been helped a lot."
