ÖAG survey shows:

Austrians against Biden’s candidacy in US election

The majority of Austrians would not be happy with a second term in office for US President Joe Biden. This is the result of a new survey conducted by the Austrian-American Association (ÖAG). People were not asked what they think of Trump's re-election.

However, the majority (55.4 percent) believe it is unlikely that Trump will make it into the White House again. The men surveyed in particular expect him to win the election. Although Trump's re-election would have negative consequences for global politics according to the respondents (77.2%), they also view his successor rather critically. Only around one in four respondents (24.6%) view Biden's term of office positively, while almost one in two (48.2%) view it neutrally and 27.2% view Biden's term of office negatively. In the 2020 survey, 85% would have voted for Biden.

Image of the USA has deteriorated
Almost one in three (29%) said that their image of the USA had deteriorated in the past year. The reasons cited by survey participants included Trump, behavior in the Ukraine war and "global interference in political affairs." 42.4% and 42.6% respectively see negative influences from the USA on the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East.

As in previous surveys, not even a fifth of Austrians surveyed have a positive image of the USA. This includes more men (25.7 percent) than women (13.9 percent). At 6.2 percent, even fewer people stated that they felt the image had improved.

The marketagent institute conducted the online survey among 500 respondents aged between 14 and 75, who are representative of the Austrian population. The fluctuation range is 4.3 percent.
