WK election: Wirtschaftsbund wins with losses

The ÖVP's Wirtschaftsbund has emerged victorious in the Chamber of Commerce elections with 61.3 percent - although it has suffered losses in almost all federal states. The Freedom Party, on the other hand, made gains everywhere and even doubled its share of the vote across Austria. 

The Wirtschaftsbund lost 7.9 percentage points. In contrast, the Freedom Party almost doubled its share of the vote to 13.6 percent (+7.3 percentage points). The Social Democratic Business Association came in at 9.7 percent (minus 1.1 percentage points). Participation has fallen further.

Losses for the Greens, UNOS gains
The Green Economy also lost 1.1 percentage points and this time received 8.4 percent of the vote, while the UNOS doubled its share of the vote to 5.3 percent (+2.6 percent).

The Fachliste der gewerblichen Wirtschaft Österreich (FGWÖ) received 781 votes or 0.4 percent, a drop of 0.1 percent. Others accounted for 1.3 percent.

Voter turnout down to 26.5 percent
The result in terms of mandates is as follows: Wirtschaftsbund (ÖWB) 6,197 or 68.8 percent, SWV 743 (8.3 percent), FW 959 (10.6 percent), GW 488 (5.4 percent), UNOS 222 (2.5 percent), FGWÖ 8 (0.1 percent), IV 245 (2.7 percent), others 143 (1.6 percent).

Voter turnout fell further by 7.2 percentage points compared to the 2020 election to just 26.5%.
