Quieter and greener

Reconstruction of the promenade enters its second phase

The next section around St. Pölten city center will be made quieter and greener. It will offer more space for walkers and cyclists, but less for motorists.

Less space for cars, but more space for pedestrians, cyclists, plants and even hobby gardeners: Anyone who has visited the Karl-Renner-Ring between Schulgasse and Linzer Tor in the past twelve months has already got an idea of what the central, two-kilometre-long street around the center of the state capital will look like in the future.

Concrete blocks, drinking fountains, seating
After a year's break, the second section will now be tackled from April. It will continue eastwards to the former synagogue. The concept will, of course, be continued: The sidewalk and the north-facing areas will be paved with concrete blocks and larger green borders will be created. In addition, seating and a drinking fountain are to be built and water features installed. Completion is planned by November.

The conversion will have an impact on traffic: in this section too, the road will only be one-way in an easterly direction and cycling will be possible on a wide strip.
