The first “real” princely couple in Burgenland

The princely couple Clemens and Dominik turned out to be a real eye-catcher in Frauenkirchen. They were the noble royalty who led the local carnival procession. The feedback has been consistently positive. 

Frauenkirchen has a rainbow crosswalk and a carnival princely couple consisting of two men.

How did this come about? "It's actually a funny story. The FrauFaGau (Frauenkirchner Faschingsgaudi) committee was looking for a prince and princess via Facebook. My sister-in-law linked us to it, which is how the committee found out about us," explains Dominik Güttersberger. Two other couples responded to the post, but Dominik and Clemens were chosen anyway.

However, the two men did not want to get ahead of themselves. "Something like this is always tricky and there is a certain risk of getting a shitstorm. We also pointed that out," the two say. But both the members of the committee and Mayor Hannes Schmid stood behind the couple and their decision.

The 2025 princely couple on Saturday were Clemens I and Dominik I. "Actually our first real princely couple," Hannes Schmid smiled in his speech. In retrospect, it turned out to be the right decision. Because there was only positive feedback at the event. "Of course there will also be negative reports, but you just have to get over it," said everyone involved.
