Serious crash: downhill skier transported away by helicopter

Unpleasant scenes in the final training session in Crans-Montana: Frenchman Nils Alphand, son of former ski racer Luc Alphand, crashed heavily on Friday and had to be transported away by helicopter.

A huge scare in the 2027 World Championship venue: Nils Alphand crashed heavily in the final training session. The 28-year-old lay motionless in the snow after his take-off. Scared moments - the medical staff immediately attended to the Frenchman.

Alphand was flown to hospital by helicopter. There is still no more precise information about his state of health.

Best time in Paris
The best time was set by Dominik Paris from South Tyrol. The Swiss Ski World Champion Franjo von Allmen (+0.41) came third behind the US American Ryan Cochran-Siegle (+0.28), Vice World Champion Vincent Kriechmayr was the best Austrian in sixth place (+0.55). 

The downhill race is scheduled for Saturday (10 am), with a super-G scheduled for Sunday (10.30 am, live in the sportkrone.at ticker).
