The Swiss madness continues even after the World Championships! In the first race after Saalbach, at the downhill in Crans Montana, the Swiss celebrated a triple victory: Franjo van Allmen ahead of Marco Odermatt (+0.13) and Alexis Monney (+0.42). Vincent Kriechmayr was the best Austrian in fourth place.

The ÖSV team therefore also missed out on the podium in the sixth downhill of the World Cup winter. Daniel Hemetsberger (15th/+1.81) and Stefan Babinsky (20th/+2.40) were outside the top 10, Otmar Striedinger skied past a gate after snowing shortly before the finish.

Kriechmayr: "I can't shake out eight tenths"
"They won't even let us on the podium, it's madness," said Kriechmayr, who raced with bib number 6. He had already set his focus on the super-G on Sunday. "I have to see where I left it. I will always find two or three tenths, I know that too. But I can't shake out eight tenths. That's quite impressive." The light may have got a little better later on, "but you have to make the most of it". He himself also had good conditions.

Von Allmen, who had also won gold in the team combined with Loic Meillard in Saalbach-Hinterglemm, managed his first victory in what was only his 15th World Cup downhill. "I'll take both, whether it's really difficult or a bit easier like here. It's a World Cup downhill and a victory," said the 23-year-old. "You're not sure when it will go like this and how long it will go like this, so enjoy it while I can."
