Salzburg bus drivers strike on Thursday

The drivers will strike between 4 a.m. and 6 a.m. for better conditions. This is a warning strike. Passengers should notice as little as possible.

Because the fourth round of negotiations for the collective agreement for private bus drivers has also failed to produce a result, there will also be a strike in Salzburg on Thursday. There will be fewer buses on the road from 4 am to 6 am. The companies affected are ÖBB-Postbus, Albus Salzburg and Krautgartner. Trolleybuses and local trains are not affected.

Postbuses will be on strike at the bus garage in Andreas-Hofer-Straße in the city, in Zell am See, in St. Johann and in Tamsweg, as well as at the Albus headquarters in the city. "It's a warning shot. That's why we want to affect as few passengers as possible," explains Friedrich Schinagl, regional chairman of the Vida trade union.

The chauffeurs have already made concessions to the companies in terms of salary, says Schinagl. The basic salary is to rise by 3.5 percent. "However, many points in the framework law are still open," says the trade unionist. For example, there are fewer split shifts with long breaks in between, bonuses for extended operating hours and sanitary facilities at the final stops.
