More and more “Nice Toilets” in the city of Salzburg

In December, the "Nette Toilette" was launched in Salzburg with four partners. The idea behind it: You can use the toilets of businesses and facilities without having to consume anything. In the meantime, the number of locations has grown to twelve businesses.

There is a constant debate about public toilet facilities in the city of Salzburg, especially in the historic old town. Critics say that there are too few of them. The "nice toilet" concept aims to improve the situation. The idea is not new, but has already been successfully implemented in Switzerland and Germany.

"The 'Nice Toilet' mainly covers the city center, where there is a lot going on and we use the existing infrastructure. In the outer districts, where many Salzburg residents live, we have ten new public toilets for playgrounds and parks. They are supplemented by the 'Nette Toilette' in St. Virgil and Salzburg Süd," explains Deputy Mayor Kay-Michael Dankl (KPÖ Plus)

The businesses, where anyone can go to the toilet, can be recognized by their own signage. The businesses receive a small expense allowance from the city for the additional cleaning work.
