Ukraine aid remains unchanged even under FPÖ

The FPÖ is constantly confronted with accusations of being Russia-friendly. Other parties have also warned that support for Ukraine in the fight against Russia could be reduced under a blue government. However, National Council President Walter Rosenkranz (FPÖ) assures that there will be no change in bilateral relations or in aid from Austria.

During a telephone conversation with his Ukrainian counterpart Ruslan Stefanchuk on Monday, Rosenkranz assured him of Austria's willingness to cooperate as far as this was possible within the framework of neutrality. The FPÖ politician described Austria's neutrality as a "successful model" and an important basis for democracy. He wanted to support cooperation within the framework of the bilateral friendship group and the democracy workshop, said the blue politician. 

Vienna proposed as a neutral venue for negotiations
Rosenkranz once again brought Austria into play as a "neutral venue" for negotiations between Russia and Ukraine and insisted on Kiev's participation. Peace negotiations could "only take place with Ukraine at the negotiating table and not over Ukraine", said Rosenkranz, alluding to a possible deal between US President Donald Trump and Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin.

Stefanchuk thanked his colleague for Austria's support and assistance. In response to questions from Rosenkranz, he was also optimistic about the impact of Trump's US presidency on humanitarian aid for Ukraine.
