Altach sign striker Mustapha

Marlon Mustapha is trying his luck at SCR Altach with immediate effect. The 23-year-old striker was loaned from Italian Serie A club Como on Wednesday until the end of the coming season. The Bundesliga bottom club then has an option to buy.

Most recently, the former Austrian U21 team player was on loan to German second division club Greuther Fürth, for whom he only played twelve competitive matches. With his return to Austria, Mustapha now also has to join the army.

The attacker was actually due to start his basic military service at the Maria Theresa Barracks in Vienna on 8 January 2024. However, as he did not want to interrupt his professional career at the time, he came into conflict with the law. The issue caused quite a stir at the time. According to Altach, a solution has now been found in this matter. Mustapha will therefore do his basic military service "at the earliest possible date".

"We are happy to have found a solution with the Austrian Armed Forces so that Marlon can play here with us," said Altach's sports director Roland Kirchler. He still knows the Bundesliga from his time at Admira, for whom he scored six goals in 27 matches in the 2021/22 season. After that, the Vienna native also played for Mainz and Fortuna Düsseldorf.
