Car confiscated from drunk speeding driver

Late on Wednesday evening, a car driver was driving far too fast and was also heavily intoxicated on the Inntalautobahn (A12) in the Tyrolean lowlands. The speeding driver had to surrender his driver's license - his vehicle was provisionally impounded.

Late in the evening, the speeding driver came to the attention of the highway police after speeding on the A12 near Kundl (Kufstein district) in the direction of Innsbruck. The 45-year-old local exceeded the speed limit of 100 km/h by almost 90 km/h, according to the investigators.

Driver heavily intoxicated
The suspected speeding driver was immediately taken off the road and checked. His driver's license was confiscated. The officers also confiscated his vehicle. But that was not all: according to the police, the driver was also heavily intoxicated.

35 speeding vehicles confiscated last year
The Tyrolean police recently presented the traffic statistics for the past year. Part of the statistics concerned the confiscation of speeding vehicles. 35 had been seized in Tyrol in the previous year.
