After months of secrecy, the new Vienna Education Director has now been announced: Elisabeth Fuchs will take over the post, as the "Krone" newspaper learned in advance.

Since former Education Director Heinrich Himmer (SPÖ) resigned from his post at the end of June and moved to the National Council, the struggle to find a successor has begun. It has now been over six months, and Arno Langmeier has taken over the post on an interim basis.

However, his hopes of a long-term takeover have now been dashed. After almost seven months, the successor has finally been determined. As the "Krone" learned in advance, Elisabeth Fuchs will take over the Directorate of Education.

Until now, she has been in charge of the Education Region East. Her responsibilities included the implementation of reforms and development projects in the region, quality management, involvement in location-based school development, quality controlling and strategic personnel management of school management.

The tasks that now lie ahead of her are certainly more challenging, as the education crisis in Vienna is huge.
