Major police operation: Cobra deploys to apartment building

Large-scale police operation in Klagenfurt: Witnesses saw several armed officers at a residential building near the Spitalberg in Klagenfurt at lunchtime on Sunday. This was triggered by young people throwing objects into the street.

"There are some heavily armed officers in the area," a father whose son was watching the incident through a window tells us. "I told him not to leave the house."

Rapid intervention group deployed
Three teenagers, an 18-year-old, a 17-year-old and a 15-year-old, climbed onto the roof of a vacant block of flats at around 11.30 a.m. and threw objects onto the street. The officers immediately moved out, which didn't bother the teenagers - they continued to throw objects down. "The people were asked to leave the block of flats several times. However, they did not comply with this request. For this reason, the block of flats was entered and searched by the Rapid Intervention Group (SIG)," the officers describe.

After the special unit arrived on the roof, they tried to ask the three young people to leave the building - initially without success. "After repeated persuasion and using the 'first speaker method', the SIG officers were able to establish a basis of trust and two people left the roof voluntarily," the police report. 

No one was injured
The third youth was also persuaded to leave the roof. All three troublemakers were provisionally arrested. "Once the investigations have been completed, they will be reported to the public prosecutor's office in Klagenfurt", the officers continued. Fortunately, no one was injured during this reckless action.
