Three injured in serious rear-end collision in Tyrol

A nasty accident occurred on Thursday evening in Flirsch (Landeck district): A Dutchman (68) had parked his defective vehicle on the side of the road without lighting. A short time later, a car following behind crashed into the vehicle. Three people were injured.

A 68-year-old Dutchman was driving his car in the municipality of Flirsch on the Stanzertalstraße together with a 62-year-old Dutch woman and a 42-year-old Swede at around 7.15 pm. He had to bring his vehicle to a halt due to a defect.

A short time later, a 64-year-old local man was also driving in the same direction and overlooked the parked vehicle. It was parked on the side of the road without lighting. The local man crashed into the parked car.

Car skidded into oncoming lane
Fortunately, there was nobody in the vehicle. The driver and passenger had already got out to secure the car. "As a result of the heavy impact, both cars were thrown into the oncoming lane, whereby a car driven by a 39-year-old Austrian man heading east was hit and damaged," said the police.

Three people seriously injured
According to the emergency doctor, the Dutch woman, the Swede and the 64-year-old local man suffered serious injuries as a result of the accident. After first aid, they were taken to the Zams district hospital. Property damage was caused to both cars. A breathalyzer test on all drivers was negative.
