EVN: Now there’s only gas from home

EVN and OMV have concluded long-term contracts for the supply of gas from Austria. This is only possible because consumption in Lower Austria has fallen by a whopping 40 percent in recent years. With the raw material from home, the supply is also becoming more independent.

 

Since the New Year, EVN has been supplying its 200,000 gas customers exclusively with gas from Austria. This is made possible by a long-term contract with OMV, explains the Lower Austrian energy supplier. "We guarantee a secure supply. And without additional costs," emphasizes EVN CEO Stefan Szyszkowitz.

40% less gas consumption in just a few years
Corresponding contracts between EVN and OMV have been signed and sealed. Why did the switch to the Austrian raw material succeed so quickly? "In recent years, many of our customers have switched to other systems and fuels. As a result, gas consumption in Lower Austria has fallen by around 40 percent. And the trend is continuing to fall," explains Szyszkowitz.

On the other hand, EVN has pushed ahead with many projects to convert its supply to renewable electricity and heat generation.
