Skier left seriously injured after accident

A collision in the Zettersfeld ski area in Lienz on Saturday morning ended with serious injuries for a local man (46). He had collided with a previously unknown skier. The skier then simply carried on skiing.

The nasty accident happened at around 10 am on the red marked piste no. 4a. The 46-year-old local was skiing there in the Zettersfeld ski area. At the same time, a previously unknown skier was skiing downhill at high speed in long carving turns.

The unknown skier did not fall and continued on without stopping.

The two skiers collided. The 46-year-old fell and suffered serious injuries to his back. "The unidentified man did not fall and continued his journey without stopping," said the police.

The injured man was first treated by the piste rescue team and taken down to the valley in the Ackja, where he was transported to the district hospital in Lienz by ambulance.

The police are now looking for the unknown skier. He is about 185 centimetres tall and was wearing a black ski helmet, orange or yellow trousers and a light blue jacket. According to the police, this color combination could also be possible in a different order.
