Mourning for Constantini: “Lives on in our hearts!”

Clubs and fans have reacted with great sadness to the news of the death of coaching legend Didi Constantini. There is also a sense of gratitude. His "home club" Wacker Innsbruck emphasized: "Didi, you live on in our black and green hearts!"

Former Austrian soccer team manager Dietmar Constantini passed away on Wednesday night at the age of 69 after a long illness. The news caused great sadness. Many people took to social networks and other platforms to express their gratitude for the commitment of the former ÖFB team boss. "Take care, thank you!" and "Rest in peace" can be read there. 

His "heart club" Wacker Innsbruck has also spoken out with great sadness. "Didi, you live on in our black and green hearts! Our condolences go out to the family and his loved ones," the Tyroleans wrote on Instagram. 

Austria also mourns
Vienna's Austria, which Constantini led to the European Cup in 2002 and 2008 despite a difficult starting position, is "with his family and friends in our thoughts".

Wrabetz: "His passing is a great loss"
The sad news has also shaken Rapid. Constantini was assistant to Hans Krankl at the Hütteldorfer for two seasons.

"Didi Constantini shaped Austrian soccer for many years and his passing is a great loss. He was not only a successful soccer coach, but also an extremely likeable person who has now left us far too early," said Alexander Wrabetz, President of the Green-Whites, on the passing of the legend.

The ÖFB also reacts
There was also an initial reaction from the ÖFB on Wednesday. The association thanked the three-time team boss for his work and passion. "Rest in peace, Didi! Thank you for everything you did for Austrian soccer," the association posted on Instagram.
