Truck driver on drugs pulled out of traffic in Puch

A 34-year-old Austrian was caught by the police on Sunday: At the highway exit in Puch (Salzburg), police checked the truck driver and he tested positive for drugs. And in Piding, a train passenger imported cannabis into Germany.

Traffic police officers stopped a 34-year-old truck driver from Austria on Sunday, December 15, shortly before noon at the Puch highway exit. The drug saliva test led to a positive result. The Austrian stated that he had smoked a bong containing cannabis two days previously.

The police doctor determined that he was unfit to drive and the man was charged. The police confiscated his driver's license and prohibited him from continuing to drive.

Also on Sunday, at around 2.05 p.m., a 30-year-old male passenger was checked on a passenger train. Investigators from the Piding border police discovered a screw-top jar filled with marijuana in the low two-digit gram range when checking the luggage he was carrying.

As the passenger had previously illegally imported the marijuana into Germany, it was seized. The man was charged with illegal importation of cannabis under the German Consumer Cannabis Act. The man was then allowed to continue his journey.
