Bomb threats at two elementary school in Graz

On Monday morning, bomb threats were received at the Peter Rosegger, Reininghaus, St. Leonhard, St. Andrä and Jägergrund elementary school in Graz, including the Webling secondary school. The police were on site with explosives experts and the all-clear was given shortly after 12 noon.

The parents of the Peter Rosegger elementary school in the Wetzelsdorf district of Graz were informed of the bomb threat even before most of the children were brought there. The police have now also confirmed: "The email was sent to the school and its content is similar to previous bomb threats."

They do not believe that there is an acute danger, but explosives experts have been deployed and searched the buildings. Threat emails were also sent to the Reininghaus secondary and elementary school, the St. Leonhard middle and elementary school, the St. Andrä elementary school and the Jägergrund elementary school - the latter is housed in the same building as the Webling secondary school. A school in Vienna-Penzing was also affected.

Shortly before 11 a.m., the all-clear was given for the most part: Only the Jägergrund elementary school was still being checked for explosives.

Operations ended
"The all-clear has been given. The operations came very quickly one after the other, all investigations have been completed. We have searched the buildings with service dogs and special forces," says police spokesman Sabri Yorgun shortly after 12 noon. The schools themselves decide whether to let the pupils go home or continue with lessons.
