Lower Austria: Two pedestrians hit by cars in accidents

On Friday, a 61-year-old car driver from the Scheibbs district hit a pedestrian while driving to a supermarket parking lot and knocked her to the ground. Witnesses are being sought to another hit-and-run accident on Friday evening in Amstetten in which a 40-year-old pedestrian was injured. 

The 86-year-old local woman was taken to Amstetten Regional Hospital for emergency medical treatment after the accident in the supermarket parking lot, police reported on Saturday.

Hit by dark station wagon 
In the hit-and-run case, a 40-year-old man from the Amstetten district was crossing a junction on foot shortly before 9.00 pm. He was hit by a car - said to be a dark-colored station wagon - and thrown to the side. The driver is said to have briefly reduced speed and then continued driving into town. The pedestrian was transported to the regional hospital in the district town with injuries.
