Head of the village murdered: “deputy” wants to succeed him

40 days after the terrible double murder, peace is slowly returning to the Mühlviertel. In Kirchberg ob der Donau, not only the date for the new mayoral election has now been set. The ÖVP has agreed on the candidate to succeed the murdered Franz Hofer. It is the previous local deputy.

Following the assassination of Mayor Franz Hofer, the date for the new election in Kirchberg ob der Donau has now been set for March 30. It has also been decided who will run for the ÖVP.

Deputy Mayor Stefan Reisinger is standing for election. He took over the office on an interim basis immediately after the death of his party colleague. He will continue to do so until the election in spring.

"For Kirchberg, the most important thing now is to restore calm after the tragic events of the past few weeks. Together with the entire municipal council, I will do my best to ensure that our town continues to develop in the spirit of our mayor," explains Reisinger.

Politically active since 2009
The farmer has been active in the parliamentary group since 2009. He has been part of Mayor Hofer's closest team as a municipal councillor for nine years. Reisinger took over the office of Deputy Mayor after the 2021 election. MZ
