Red Bull Salzburg ends Linz’s winning streak!

Red Bull Salzburg won the top game of the ICE Hockey League and took over 3rd place in the table!

The champions celebrated a 5-2 home win against Black Wings Linz, ending Linz's winning streak of eight consecutive victories. The KAC won 3:1 against Asiago, while the Vienna Capitals lost 3:1 at home to Olimpija Ljubljana.

Intense and evenly matched battle
The fans in Salzburg were treated to an intense and evenly matched clash between two teams in top form. Linz striker Nico Feldner missed the first great chance, shortly afterwards the home side took the lead. Lukas Schreier deflected a shot from Luca Auer (13').

After Brian Lebler equalized in the power play (24'), the Red Bulls pulled two goals ahead through Mario Huber (28'), who skated in alone on goal and shot ice-cold into the corner of the net, and Lucas Thaler (31'/PP). However, Lebler, the league's top scorer, struck a second time in overtime and reduced the deficit with his 14th goal of the season (32').

Champions have always scored since the international break
Scott Kosmachuk (49) and Thomas Raffl (51) finally secured a deserved home win. The champions have thus scored in each of their seven matches since the international break at the start of November, picking up 19 of a possible 21 points in the process.

The KAC secured the three points against Asiago in the final. Raphael Herburger (55) and Senna Peeters (58) each scored after preparatory work by Nick Pastujov.
