Athletic Bilbao celebrated a clear 3:0 victory against IF Elfsborg from Sweden on the fifth matchday in the Europa League. Meanwhile, Olympique Lyon rolled over FK Qarabag 4:1 in Azerbaijan, while Lazio Roma had to make do with a 0:0 draw against Ludogorez Rasgrad and Galatasaray Istanbul against AZ Alkmaar (1:1). The match between RSC Anderlecht and Porto also failed to produce a winner (2:2). 

In the Europa League, Lazio Roma conceded points for the first time in the fifth round with a 0-0 draw at home to Ludogorez Rasgrad. Athletic Bilbao caught up with the Italians with a 3:0 (2:0) win against Elfsborg.

PAOK Saloniki, without Stefan Schwab and Thomas Murg, won the match in Riga against FK RFS 2-0 (1-0), which was refereed by Julian Weinberger, and celebrated their first victory.

Heidenheim lose top match
Meanwhile, Chelsea also won their fourth game in the Football Conference League and continue to lead the table without dropping any points. The English side won 2:0 (0:0) at FC Heidenheim on Thursday thanks to goals from Christopher Nkunku (51) and Mykhailo Mudryk (86), inflicting the Germans' first defeat in the competition. Mathias Honsak was on target for the home side until the 57th minute.

Cercle Brugge under Austrian coach Miron Muslic are still well in contention for promotion. The Belgian club beat Heart of Midlothian 2-0 (1-0) and are on seven points after four rounds. FC St. Gallen had to settle for a 2-2 (1-1) draw at home to TSC Backa Topola under Albert Vallci.
