Innviertler dies after accident on snow-covered road

On Friday morning, a woman from the Innviertel region of Austria crashed her Mercedes on the snow-covered Weilharter Landesstraße (L 501) in Tarsdorf to a fatal end. Her car crashed into two trees and was completely demolished. Unfortunately, the woman was beyond help. She died at the scene of the accident.

It was around 7.45 a.m. on Friday when the woman from the Innviertel region was driving her Mercedes from Tarsdorf towards Hochburg/Ach. After a long bend, she suddenly lost control of the car in a wooded area on a snow-covered road.

The car skidded over the side of the road, flew over an embankment and hit two massive trees, between which it became stuck. The front end of the Mercedes was badly damaged and a wheel was torn off.

The driver (33) from Ostermiething suffered life-threatening injuries and died at the scene of the accident. Paramedics and the emergency doctor were unfortunately unable to help her. A policewoman suffered a fainting spell and had to be attended to.

Firefighters pulled the wrecked car out of the woods and handed it over to a towing company. It is still unclear exactly why the Mercedes skidded off the road.
