Horrible: Two dead babies discovered in bathtub

A terrible discovery in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt: two dead babies were found in an apartment. An arrest warrant has now been issued against the 29-year-old mother.

According to the public prosecutor's office, it has not yet been clarified whether this is a homicide. The two babies were discovered in an apartment in Wittenberg during the night from Sunday to Monday. 

As the newspaper "Bild" reported, the mother was admitted to hospital with abdominal pain a few hours before the discovery.

Grandmother found the two babies in bags
According to the "Mitteldeutsche Zeitung" newspaper, the grandmother found the dead babies when she was looking for clothes for the alleged mother. There were bags in the bathtub containing two babies. The grandmother immediately alerted the police. According to the investigators, there were two girls, presumably twins.

Autopsy already ordered
The two babies are to be autopsied on Tuesday. The public prosecutor's office emphasized that the two girls were certainly alive after birth. An application for the mother's arrest has been made.
