Ran out from behind bus: Hit by police car

Fortunately, a collision between a police car and a six-year-old girl in Gröbming (Liezen district) in Styria on Monday was relatively minor: the girl had unexpectedly run out onto the road behind a bus. An evasive maneuver prevented worse.

At around 1 p.m., an officer was driving in the direction of Gröbming on the L728 following a forestry accident. At Kaindorf, a bus was stopped at a bus stop on the left-hand side of the road. When suddenly and completely unexpectedly, a girl ran across the road behind the bus.

"Serious collision prevented"
There was a minor collision with the approaching patrol vehicle. "The low speed in the local area and an abrupt evasive maneuver to the right may have prevented a more serious collision with the child," said the regional police directorate.

The girl and her school bag fell on the road, but fortunately only suffered minor abrasions. Accompanied by her mother, she was taken to the DKH Schladming by ambulance. The patrol car, which collided with a road marker post, a snow pole and a wooden boundary stone pole during the evasive maneuver, was slightly damaged.
