Further laryngeal surgery for Doskozil

Hans Peter Doskozil announced on social media on Tuesday that he had undergone another laryngectomy in Germany. The procedure went without complications. He should be back in Burgenland by the end of the week.

"It looks like I'll be back in Burgenland by the end of this week," he reassured on social media. The operation was a "routine check-up", as an ossification in his larynx had become increasingly larger. Doskozil therefore had a "preventive correction" carried out.

No public appointments
He is still in "very close contact" with his government team during the recovery phase. He wants to continue his work at the "usual pace". However, there will be no public appointments for the time being until his recovery is complete.

In the governor's case, it is a rare, harmless hardening of the cartilage structure. He emphasized on social media: "For me, as I have already emphasized several times, this has already become routine."

Several operations already
This is the governor's 8th operation. Doskozil was already in the care of specialist doctors in Germany in 2022 for his laryngectomy. In mid-November 2023, the SPÖ state leader had to return to the University Hospital in Leipzig. The last one had to be performed in March 2024.

"I have always been open about my illness. That is why I have now made it public in parliament that I will undergo another safe corrective procedure on my larynx," said Doskozil in the conference room.
