Popular trail closed again shortly before opening

The desolate Alpe Adria hiking route between Seeboden and Gmünd has been repaired, but cannot be reopened. 

The Alpe Adria Trail stage 11 between Gmünd and Seeboden was devastated by severe storms. As a result, it was closed for several years and nobody felt responsible, we reported.

After the "Krone" report, however, those responsible reacted quickly and inspected the damaged areas on site. The paths damaged by mudslides have since been repaired. "Together with the Alpine Association and the municipalities of Gmünd and Seeboden, we have restored the trail, which is popular with tourists and locals alike," says Hellmuth Koch, Seeboden's tourism chairman.

However, the route, which leads through the so-called Platzgraben, cannot yet be opened. "During an inspection, we discovered that the wooden bridge also needs to be secured," regrets Koch. "Forestry work is also taking place in the area of the trail."

However, nothing should stand in the way of an opening next spring. "Then it will be accessible again as the original route!" says Koch confidently.
