“He’s dangerous!” Double penalty for Verstappen

A fierce battle for the Formula 1 world championship crown: Red Bull star Max Verstappen and McLaren driver Lando Norris came into contact with each other in the early stages of the Mexico race. The latter was furious, and shortly afterwards Verstappen was handed a double penalty.

On lap ten, Norris tried to get past Verstappen. There was contact and the Briton had to swerve into the grass. "That guy is dangerous," he scolded Verstappen on the radio. "He pushed me off the track."

Race control took another look at the explosive duel - and blamed Verstappen: the world championship leader was given a ten-second penalty! Because he had also left the track during a scene in turn eight and thus gained an advantage, the next ten-second penalty followed shortly afterwards. Verstappen therefore had to serve 20 seconds at the pit stop. 

Only 47 points ahead
A bitter setback in the battle for important points - in the end, Verstappen only finished sixth! Four races and two sprints before the end of the season, the Dutchman still leads the championship standings by 47 points from his rival Norris, who finished second.
