Continued gloomy outlook for Carinthian industry

Carinthian industry continues to suffer from the recession. High costs and uncertain prospects are contributing to the gloomy mood. Some companies are even expecting job cuts.

Carinthian industry sees no light at the end of the tunnel. The recession still has a firm grip on the domestic economy. "There is still no clear improvement in sight," explains Timo Springer, President of the Federation of Austrian Industry in Carinthia. And this is massively dampening the mood in companies.

For this reason, Carinthian industry is only expecting an average business situation over the next six months. As a result, some of the companies are already considering job cuts. "Only one percent are thinking about increasing the number of employees," says Claudia Mischensky, Managing Director of the Carinthian Federation of Industry.

And while companies are thinking about these drastic measures, they are once again demanding affordable energy for their production facilities. "Carinthian industry needs a renewable energy mix to safeguard its location, competitiveness and security of supply," says Mischensky.
