Car crash on the Streif survived unharmed

A 46-year-old man was driving a pickup truck uphill on a meadow near the Seidlalm on Friday. He lost control of the vehicle, presumably due to the wet surface. The passenger was able to jump out of the car in time. 

At around 8.30 a.m. on Friday, a 46-year-old Austrian man was driving a company vehicle (pickup) uphill in Kitzbühel in the area of the "Seidl-Alm" over grass-covered terrain to carry out maintenance work at a weather station.

Crashed over the edge of the terrain
The vehicle lost grip, presumably due to the wet or muddy ground, and slid backwards. In the area of an off-road edge, the pickup plunged approx. 20 meters over a steep embankment downhill and finally came to rest on the passenger side.

The driver was able to free himself
The passenger, a 26-year-old Austrian, was able to get out of the vehicle in time before it crashed. The 46-year-old driver survived the crash unharmed and was able to free himself from the pickup.

Automatic emergency call system 
The vehicle's e-call system set the rescue chain in motion after the crash and established a connection to the police control center. Both occupants were uninjured. The vehicle sustained considerable material damage. The Kitzbühel volunteer fire department was deployed with 4 vehicles and 22 firefighters.
