Passenger numbers at Linz Airport plummet

Last year there was at least a slight upturn at Linz Airport with 232,950 passengers, but things are not looking good at all this year. By the end of September, the number of passengers at Hörsching had fallen by 22.6 percent, the Austrian Airports Association revealed on Wednesday.

On Monday, October 28, the connection to London will be revived thanks to Ryanair, and at the same time the Braathens Regional Airlines plane will take off for Frankfurt for the first time on behalf of Austrian Airlines - but in the midst of the optimistic mood, the data from the Austrian Airports Association is a "party crasher".

The data for Linz shows a significant drop compared to the previous year: According to the statistics, passenger numbers in the first three quarters of 2024 fell to 148,555 passengers - a decline of 22.6 percent.

The number of take-offs and landings in Linz was also down, falling to a total of 2531 from January to the end of September. Overall, passenger numbers at Austria's airports rose significantly - to a total of 27.2 million travelers.
