Car driver (38) overlooked biker – seriously injured

Bad accident on Saturday afternoon in Innsbruck! A car driver (38) put the car into reverse and overlooked a motorcyclist (44) driving behind him. The motorcyclist was unable to stop in time and crashed into the car.

The 38-year-old Czech wanted to drive to the right-hand parking lane in Neuhauserstraße in Innsbruck/Wilten at around 4.40 pm. There he wanted to hand the car over to a colleague. As there was no free space on the parking lane before the junction with Egger-Lienz-Straße, the driver reversed.

However, he may have overlooked a 44-year-old Romanian motorcyclist behind him. The motorcyclist had seen the car reversing and stopped. The Romanian crashed to the ground. "After the motorcyclist reversed unexpectedly, he was also unable to react in time and take evasive action," said the police.

The motorcyclist sustained serious injuries to his hip. Property damage was caused to both vehicles.
