Speeding through Wiener Neustadt at 176 km/h

A 27-year-old near Wiener Neustadt was in a hurry: the man from Burgenland sped past the city police officers at an incredible speed. They quickly put an end to the mad dash.

Burgenlanders are not always the fastest when it comes to regulars' table jokes: on Wednesday, however, a 27-year-old from the district of Mattersburg proved this popular wisdom wrong. The young man was clearly driving faster than the police allowed on an open road in Wiener Neustadt (Lower Austria).

Driver's license and vehicle gone
During his crazy drive, which took him along the road at up to 176 kilometers per hour, the man from Burgenland was flashed by the police. Using a built-in tracking unit, the officers were able to measure the record-breaking speed - the maximum permitted speed here would only have been 100 km/h.

The 27-year-old has now not only lost his driver's license, but his vehicle has also been provisionally confiscated. The driver was also reported to the relevant district authority.
