Pool in Flachgau to open in 2027

The cost formula has been finalized, as have the municipalities' technical requirements - now all that's missing is the detailed planning. Four projects have been submitted: a team of architects from Germany has been awarded the contract for the general planning.

The never-ending story surrounding the Flachgau indoor swimming pool seems to be coming to an end. The state of Salzburg and the twelve municipalities of the Salzburg Lake District have agreed on financing. The state will pay 70 percent of the planning and construction costs from the municipal equalization fund. The municipalities will split the remaining 30 percent.

The regional association has not yet been able to provide any details about the costs. "A modern, sustainable indoor swimming pool with energy-efficient technology" is therefore to be built in Seekirchen.

The general planning for this swimming pool was awarded to the German company Krieger Architekten Ingenieure. The architectural competition focused on sustainability, energy efficiency and optimized operating costs. A panel of experts assessed the four concepts submitted. It was important that the design and technology were treated equally for the award of the contract. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2025 and be completed in 2027 - subject to all decisions being made.
