200 dead fish were “disposed of” in a stream

The dead animals were apparently dumped into the water by unknown persons. A walker discovered the fish and informed the municipality. The case was reported to the police. 

Masses of dead fish were discovered early on Saturday morning in the Grusaubach stream between Holzschlag and Günseck, just outside Unterkohlstätten. A walker had seen the carcasses and informed the municipality.

Fish collected
Mayor Christian Pinzker assumes that the animals were dumped into the shallow stream from a nearby bridge by unknown persons during a night-time operation. After being informed, he and a municipal employee collected the fish with landing nets and gloves. Most of the animals were already dead, but a few were still alive.

Police informed
As it is not clear whether they might be sick, they could not be rescued. It is suspected that the fish were fished out of a pond. However, Pinzker does not believe that it is a local pond. The case has already been reported to the police.

"I find something like this cruel and terrible. I don't know what occurs to some people. Especially because we also provide facilities for the proper disposal of animal carcasses," says the mayor.
